Winter time has me dreaming of drinking a warm cup of hot cocoa by the fire. These bombs are the BEST and make great gifts that have people thinking you spent a lot more time and effort making them then it actually takes. If you have enough molds you can easily make 12 of these in just one night! These do require some materials to make like a mold, melting chocolates, cupcake liners, plastic sandwich bag, sprinkles, and I highly suggest getting yourself a chocolate Melter, it has seriously changed my life. No more melting chocolate in the microwave, hoping it doesn't seize on me. I will link the supplies I have used on the bottom of the blog. Okay, here we go, one perfect chocolate bomb coming up!
Step 1. Melt some mint chocolate melting chips in your pot. It takes about 20 minutes for them to completely melt so make sure to plan ahead. You will know they are ready when you can easily stir them with a spoon and they have smooth texture.
Step 2. Use your spoon to make a coating on the bomb molds. I like to start by spooning some on the rim of each mold and smoothing it down the sides. I then put a plop of the chocolate in the bomb and smooth that out. Do a coat in each of your molds.
Step 3. Put those babies in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.
Step 4. Take them out and put another thin coat of chocolate in each bomb mold. Back in the fridge they go.
Step 5. Heat up a small pan on the lowest possible setting. Pop out half of your bombs. Take one side of the shell and rub it in the pan so the rim gets smooth and is pretty even all around. Do this for half of the shells. Set aside. This is an important step so they close properly!
Step 6. Fill the side of the shell you just smoothed with hot chocolate and of course some marshmallows. You want them to pop out as the chocolate melts.
Step 7. Now take the other sides of the shell out of the molds. Rub them one by one in the pan that has been heating. As they are still hot with melted chocolate pop them on top of the half of the shell that has the hot chocolate. The melted chocolate will seal against the ohter have keeping everything inside.
Now you could stop here- Put them in a cupcake liner and bag them, but we want them to look pretty right? So lets put a little decoration on them.
Step 8. Melt some coordinating color chocolate- it is only a little bit so I dohtis in a small bowl in the microwave. Put it in a small sandwich bag and pipe it across the top of the coco bomb. Top it with some sprinkles, and Voila! you have a bakery quality hot chocolate bomb all ready to go! Enjoy!
