These 5-minute pencil toppers are quick, easy, and so fun to make—making them the perfect classroom craft or at-home activity. They’re great for adding a little excitement to homework, prize bins, or Valentine’s Day celebrations. It’s amazing how motivated kids can get from something as simple as a fun pencil! 💕✏️

🧡 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Make Your Heart Template
Draw a heart shape on a piece of paper and cut it out. Use this as a template to trace and cut hearts from your foam sheets.
👉 Each pencil topper will need two hearts—one for the front and one for the back.
Step 2: Add the Fun Details
Now for the best part—decorating!
Glue on googly eyes or heart stickers
Use a paint pen to draw a mouth or facial details
Cut a small piece of pipe cleaner for arms
Fold it in half so there are no sharp ends
Glue it to the back of the heart
Optional: glue a small piece of pink fur to the back for “hair”
Let everything dry for a minute before moving on.
Step 3: Glue the Hearts Together
Glue the back heart to the front heart. This hides all the glue spots from the arms and hair and gives the topper a clean, finished look.
Step 4: Make the Pencil Strap
Cut a strip of foam about ½ inch thick. Wrap it tightly around the pencil to make a snug loop.
🔥 Hot glue it in place—make sure it’s tight so it won’t slide down the pencil.
Step 5: Put It All Together
Glue your decorated heart onto the foam pencil strap.
