DIY No-Sew Felt Fairy Wands (Fast + Classroom Friendly!)

These little felt heart fairy wands are so adorable! I plan on using mine in the classroom during small group instruction—they’re perfect for having kids point to sight words, follow along while reading, or highlight spelling patterns. There are so many cute possibilities!

They also make a sweet and easy Valentine's Day gift for little ones. And the best part? They take about 10 minutes, require zero sewing, and look totally magical.

✨ Supplies You’ll Need

• Hot glue gun + glue sticks

• Felt sheets in assorted colors

• Wooden dowels

• Stuffing / polyfill

• Scissors

• Heart template (I used a cookie cutter!)

• Optional: Ribbon or felt scraps for bows

Teacher Tip: The felt and dowels are super affordable, so this is a great craft for parties, class gifts, or DIY sensory tools.

✨ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Cut Your Felt Hearts

Cut out two felt heart shapes for each wand.
I traced a cookie cutter so they were all about the same size. If you want, you can:

✔ add embroidery,
✔ use paint pens,
✔ add glitter glue, or
✔ keep them plain and cute.

I embroidered “XOXO” with thread on one of mine—super cute, but it definitely makes your project take longer than 10 minutes!

Step 2: Attach the Dowel

Place the wooden dowel onto the back heart piece and hot glue it down.
If you're decorating the front, be sure the dowel is glued to the opposite side.

Step 3: Glue Around the Edge

Glue around the edges of the heart, leaving a small opening so you can stuff it.

Step 4: Stuff the Heart

Add a little bit of stuffing to make it puffy and cute. You only need a small amount!

Step 5: Seal It Closed

Once the stuffing is in, glue the remaining opening closed and gently press the edges to secure.

Step 6: Add a Bow or Ribbon

Use leftover felt scraps to cut small strips and tie a bow.
You can glue these onto the dowel or heart. Ribbon works great too if you want extra movement and fairy vibes!
